Reggaeton Drum Pattern

Reggaeton is built on the dembow rhythm. The kick plays on every beat, and the snare answers on the off-beats in a 3-3-2 pattern: the last 16th of beat 1 and the "and" of beat 2, then the same again in beats 3 and 4.

The reggaeton beat, step by step

Tempo: 88–100 BPM (see all genres in the BPM chart). Each bar is counted in 16th notes: 1 e & a, 2 e & a, 3 e & a, 4 e & a. Here is where every instrument plays in the main pattern:

Tip: Leave the dembow kick and snare as they are and create variation with percussion and hat changes. Listeners expect the dembow to stay constant.
