Camelot Wheel: Key Chart and Harmonic Mixing Tool
Click any key on the Camelot wheel to see which keys mix with it, its Open Key code and its scale. The full Camelot key chart with all 24 keys is below.
Outer ring: major keys (B) · inner ring: minor keys (A) · highlighted: keys that mix with the selected one. Every segment links to a page for that key.
How to mix with the Camelot wheel
- Stay on the same code for the smoothest blend: both tracks use the same seven notes.
- Move one step clockwise or anticlockwise with the same letter (8A → 9A or 7A). The keys share six of seven notes.
- Switch letter on the same number (8A ↔ 8B) to go between a minor key and its relative major: same notes, different mood.
- Energy boost: +2 (8A → 10A) lifts the key a whole tone, +7 (8A → 3A) a semitone. Use them on purpose, at a breakdown or a drop.

Quick answers
What is the Camelot wheel?
The Camelot wheel is a chart of the 24 musical keys used by DJs for harmonic mixing. Each key gets a number from 1 to 12 and a letter: B for major keys and A for minor keys. Keys next to each other on the wheel share six of their seven notes, so they mix smoothly.
How do you use the Camelot wheel?
Find the code of the track that is playing, then pick the next track from the same code, one number up or down with the same letter, or the same number with the other letter. For example, from 8A you can go to 8A, 7A, 9A or 8B.
What does 8A mean in Camelot?
8A is A minor and 8B is C major. They are relative keys and share the same seven notes.
What is the difference between the Camelot wheel and the circle of fifths?
They are the same idea. The Camelot wheel is the circle of fifths with simple codes: moving one number clockwise is up a fifth, A is the minor ring and B is the major ring. The circle of fifths uses key names instead.
What is Open Key notation?
Open Key is another key code used by Traktor. It starts at C major = 1d and A minor = 1m, so 8B in Camelot is 1d in Open Key. The table on this page converts between the two.
What is an energy boost mix?
Jumping +2 on the Camelot wheel (for example 8A to 10A) raises the key by a whole tone, and +7 (8A to 3A) raises it by a semitone. Both create a noticeable lift, so DJs use them on purpose at peak moments.
